4.1.5 Patch Released!

June 2nd, 2009 -- We just released the 4.1.5 patch (build 3714).

Apart from regular maintenance bug fixes and certain performance improvements based on feedback from our valuable community, there is one key reason why this release is very important for all of us at Spoonlabs.

We just introduced two exceptionally important components in the very core of the system, making a giant leap towards improving Vivvo’s vigor and flexibility.

Those two components are topics and schedules. Before I move on, I just need to emphasize that this minor release does not bring interface and templates for modules supported by this core improvements – this will happen in plug-ins we prepare for next two months and of course, in next v4.2 release. We introduced this functionality to Vivvo core (framework) and at this point you will be able to take advantage of that using series of plug-ins that will be released soon.

As always, be sure to make a backup of your site/database when you update, and also be sure to correctly replace your files on your server. The patch can be downloaded from the client area.

www.getvivvo.com

We at Spoonlabs understand that choosing a content management system (CMS) is a lengthy and tiresome process. Indeed, almost every CMS looks pretty dazzling on screenshots and in brochures. However, those "have a look but don't touch" online demos just won't let you get a proper grip and feel of the system that you are about to entrust with running your website. In addition, not everyone is capable of downloading and running our Free Trial version so we decided to move one step closer to our potential customers and let them have their own Hosted Trial in just few seconds.

You can safely edit and publish content, try different templates and languages, explore the variety of plug-ins and see for yourself what thousands of existing customers already know - why is Vivvo the most user-friendly and efficient CMS on the market today.

On a side note, this hosted demo is a first step towards offering a wider span of our services aimed towards SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) paradigm. Soon, we shall offer Multi-Site Manager extension, letting you deploy multiple websites with single installation and central point for maintaining and patching your installations. Also, we shall offer Vivvo as fully featured hosted platform to our all of customers, with bundled server support and backups/upgrades.

Vivvo 4.0 Final Release

Oct 08th, 2007 -- We are very pleased to announce the final release of Vivvo CMS 4.0, accompanied by a complete overhaul of Vivvo website and identity. This is a major leap forward and a big milestone for all of us.

We have not only completed our work on what is probably the most advanced and user friendly News publishing CMS in this price range, but we have also completely overhauled of our website, the billing system, and all supplementary sections to make them much faster, better organized and above all more professional.

The transition should be completed sometime within the next few weeks, during which slight glitches in website performance and appearance are possible. We apologize in advance for any problems that you may experience during this period.

Over the course of next couple days, we shall commence migration of our existing customers to the new billing and ordering system. Due to the fact that this system is not compatible with our internal system we have used up to now, the migration will have to be conducted manually, for each respective client. We appreciate your patience on this matter and as soon as each and every one of you is transferred to the new billing system, you shall have access to Vivvo 4.0 download within your client area.

Also, your current accounts for Help Desk ticketing system will be substituted for the new ones. That system will no longer use your existing forum credentials, but the new ones created for your Client area. Forum credentials will of course remain the same.

We thank you all for your patience and understanding, with special thanks to those of you who volunteered your time for valuable suggestions, beta testing and bug reporting. Without your help, our journey to this big milestone would have been much harder.

Vivvo 4.0 RC1

Sep 27th, 2007 -- Today, we are releasing Vivvo 4.0 RC1 version for the public download. Although our main focus was on quality and scalability, we have also added several new features. You will notice that visually Vivvo CMS has changed a great deal, and this is largely due to the feedback we received from you in addition to an already extensive user-interface testing done here at Spoonlabs.

You can view the complete release notes and download Vivvo 4.0 RC1 following this link: http://www.vivvo.net/release

This download is a trial, valid for 21 days, ionCube encoded and free for all to use. Apart from the official release notes on our website, there are only two things we'd like to emphasize right now.

First - if you're anxious to see the new version in action, and decide to deploy the live server/website, you're good to go even in the long run, because this version will let you seamlessly migrate to the final, fully licensed release. There will be absolutely no need to re-configure or change anything later.

Second - not all of you will be able to upgrade your custom 3.5 websites with the new version right now. This version is a major leap forward from v3.5, which will become obvious to you as soon as you install and run this release. As much as we wanted to provide straightforward and seamless upgrade path for all of you running Vivvo with custom features (or any changes to the PHP code) it just was not feasible. We have embarked on building an affordable, yet enterprise-quality CMS for you, and there will be a few minor bumps on this road, but you will be more than pleased with the final outcome. The upgrade procedures from v3.5 come in several flavors:

  • Clean install of 4.0 with importing database from 3.5 version (articles, comments, users, etc.): Available with the final release (expected release date: October 8th) - Upgrading 3.5 to 4.0, keeping existing templates/layouts: Expected to be available by the end of October 2007
  • Upgrading custom 3.5, with customizations within the PHP code: Not available, the only workaround is to upgrade, or do clean install, and then re-create all custom features or 3rd party code, add-ons, etc.

Of course, you can always count on all the help you can get from our support staff during the upgrade period. Thanks for all your support and great suggestions during the beta testing stage! Stay tuned for more exciting Vivvo news!
