No articles work? directories dont exist?

Seems none of the article categories exist, whether its the current one in the default install or any new ones I add.. they dont exist.. when i click on an article its page isnt there.

i have uninstalled and reinstalled a few times thinking i didnt chmod something or was missing a file.. but im not...

Your server does not support mod_rewrite (so-called "pretty URLs"). Disable them from Preferences, or ask server admin to enable mod_rewrite module.

Funny. Same thing has happened to my site. All the articles are gone from my database...
