Event Calendar and Classifieds

I know there isn't a plugin for an event calendar or classifieds. I am going to have to integrate some 3rd party software to do these things, which is fine. Does anyone have any experience, suggestions, warnings before I take on these endeavors?

Classifieds: After much wasted time trying to splice something (anything !) into Vivvo we ended up incorporating a WordPress install on client's site using ClassiPress. It's a nice product with minimal tweaking to look identical to Vivvo - you wouldn't know you left the main site. Generous licensing terms, and the developer support is good.

Events: Vivvo really should have a decent event calandar integrated by now. Never figured out if this is a technical/security holdup, or just not enough bods to do the work. Advice is very sparse.

So for now we chose Easy PHP Calendar using iFrames. It's a very professional and tidy script but without expensive CSS work it doesn't look quite right yet.

Linked Online events calendars: No thanks.
