View Full Version : What's the wisdom on mySQL databases?

Although it's viable to use a common mySQL database for several scripts using appropriate prefixes, I have gravitated to a separate database for each app, after having a combo database bring everything down.

Could anyone comment on any speed penalties that separate databases could impose - or other issues to be considered?

Typically only 500-5000 users on DB and 200-1000 visitors/users a day.

TIA:)

As far as I know one database is more than enough to slow down your website if you are on a share hosting server.

combo database bring everything down.

I always use separate databases for CMS and Forum. It is much stable that way. And if there is a problem in database you can allocate it much easier than if you have one database.

Somebody else, any other thoughts?
