In the next couple of days, new minor release will go public – Vivvo CMS 3.5
There is number of enhancements and mostly security improvements in the new version, but one thing I’d like to stress out is vBulletin plug-in. Finally, you’ll be able to integrate your Vivvo with vBulletin forum :) This plug-in brings "single login", automatic registration to both systems and a new box for Vivvo (BOX_VB_LASTPOST) with latest forum posts.
And I know you'll love this part – the plug-in will be totally free :)
Here is the list of some enhancement / features introduced in this version:
-Article Management: Search filter (field) added for articles
-Comments Management: Added option for moderated comments with bad words filter (you'll be able to choose between moderated and non-moderated comment system, and set automatic bad words)
-Mass edit for comments
-Mass edit for users
-Ability to upload custom website logo in Preferences
-Ability to set custom format for date/time
-Custom path for Admin directory
-A couple of new social bookmarking options, like Digg and del.icio
In addition, we’re releasing a brand new template for Vivvo – of course, free for all :)
Feel free to leave your comments here, it's still not too late for some minor improvements. We always like to hear the voice of our community.

Hi
Good News,
It would be nice if you make clickable also the Flash Banners from Bamenr management plug in.

hi to all, my suggestion is if it is possible to intergrate a box system using tinmyce editor or else to create boxes much easier then editing tpl files, something like bbcode boxes like CMPS Of vbulletin, it can be done by giving a box an id and a column to be shown in frontpage, dont know if you get time for this in 3.5 but in future i think you can make that.Of course it's just a suggestion, Vivvo CMS is already an awesome script.

I would really appreciate a way to offset timezones in Vivvo or is this the date/time format you mention?
Thanks
Gus:)

I see no reason for such plug-in, you can easily embed any 3rd party stock market ticker, or chart. They usually provide JavaScript or RSS code to embed into your page.

Unfortunately, not doable for now. I wanted to have flash banners that log clicks and CTR as well since day one, but it just wasn't possible.

Yes, you'll be able to set both custom date format and timezone.

Inside Vivvo Admin it has under general Options:
"Enable Membership-based Access :
Do you wish to enable restricted access for whole site, or only part of the site?"
The options are yes and no. It's confusing.
Also.. I'd like to set up some sorta payment module somehow if thats possible? Say for Video downloads; Like a VIP access.

All they gotto do now is release it :)
Oh and take the hardcoded language out of the admin section, hate to think about translating all admin templates again with every release.

Choose YES if you want to enable membership-based access, then you can edit the categories you wish to protect and set them to "private".

We do not have payment module plug-in at the moment, but it is on our to-do list.
@chatfan: I'm afraid the admin language will have to remain as it is for now...

As long as the template structure stays the same I guess I can live with that. Its not the most crucial part of the CMS, right now more plugins would be preferred.

Hi to all especially to boccio! This is my first time here and I have spent practically the whole day researching on vivvo. i have used article manager [ghanamusic.com (http://www.ghanamusic.com/artman/publish/) old site], xoops [ghanamusic.com (http://ghanamusic.com)], spip [myzongo.com (http://myzongo.com)] and lately wordpress [wp.myzongo.com (http://wp.myzongo.com)] but i found vivvo to more complete than all the ones that i have used.
I am ready to go with Vivvo but it lacks just 3 more things that i need.
1. An intergrated photo gallery like phpcow
2. Captions for images in articles
3. tagging / keywords
Boccio do you have any plans of implementing these 3 things? Also can you be specific when ver 3.5 will be released?
Thanks :)

Thank you for your kind suggestions.
The most recent version of Vivvo (3.4) was released only 3 weeks ago, so it is unlikely that a new version will arrive before February 2007. We usually invite the members of Vivvo community to contribute their comments and ideas, so each new version is really a collaborative effort aimed at making Vivvo the best CMS solution on the market.
It is likely that we will create a TO DO list in the near future to keep our development directions more transparent to the Vivvo community. We also have several surprises for you and some of these are pretty revolutionary, so we do not want to reveal them before the new version is fully ready.
Please stay tuned!
which one of the new announced features can be termed as revolutionary ?
or Are there more features to be annouced in 3.5?
coz i do not feel any of the new annouced features are revolutionary.

Maybe its me but the "we do not want to reveal them before the new version is fully ready" sounds to me like a clue :P
Vivvo 3.5 features a range of improvements largely based on the feedback received from the Vivvo community. They are important new features and they will signicantly enhance the Vivvo content management experience. None of them, however, could be termed revolutionary, you are right about that. So, you'll need to wait for a few more weeks to see some of the revolutionary things that Spoonlabs has been working on for almost a year now. We are sure you won't be disappointed!

Ah does this mean the release of 3.5 is now weeks away again?
This will be a problem for me, if this is the case I hope someone can do some of the custom work I need ASAP. (emailed about this last week and last night to sales)
Nope, the version 3.5 will be released within the next few days, no worries.

I'm affraid we created a bit of confusion here :) Vivvo CMS 3.5 will be out by Friday. No worries about it.
However, the "revolutionary features" Mark spoke about are related to completely new production line of CMS software we're developing for almost a year. I'm really sorry I can't come forth with something more solid at this time, but I can promise you one thing: when you see trailer videos for the new software in couple of weeks, you won't believe it :)
The new CMS software is currently in early Beta, and only couple of most trusted beta-testers are working on it right now. It will introduce features you could expect from Google, personalized Yahoo or Netvibes. Those who know the principles of Netvibes and new personalized Yahoo will know what I'm talking about.
The new era of online publishing is closer than you think :)

Sounds cool, good luck may the code be with you. If its going to be as clever as this one you going to rule the code universe.
Its a free upgrade for anyone with a developers license right? :p

Thanks Mark for the information ,i was almost certain there was some thing missing that clears the things ,i was waiting for almost 3 months now for the new release to buy it and was bit disappointed when the new features were announced ,tough i would have loved to see those revolutionary things in 3.5 but i guess its ok i will go in for 3.5 and as indicated the new things are almost free sounds good to me.
Thanks guys for the great work ...

Hi Mark and Vivvo Team
Is there any documentation available for the developers? So developer can create there own plugins/modules and can sell through your website or through this forum etc... I think its one of the good ways to promote your CMS also.
Amir.

Not sure if its a bug on mine...
1. Although I have pending articles they still are available via RSS.
2. I have to add & save article as active then change to pending. It would be great to able change this condition prior to saving. (perhaps related to above)
3. If I add article with tomorrow date (so it is avialable on the following day) it will still be availble after adding via RSS and also available in the archive calendar and related items or by requesting its url. It would be best if these where not available till set active.
4. Pending headlines appear in "more headline" list.
If its not my copy, then it would be great for these to be fixed. :)
Thanks
Gus
