How can I make the JS menu vertical and put it on the sidebar?

You have the option in Preferences to allow that (in v3.4)

Preferences -> General Options -> Frontend Menu

I am talking about the top menu DHTML or JAva script dropdown into the box section:

THis is what it says in the admin:
Choose how do you want your website categories displayed – vertical (in section box), horizontal (in Top-level menu), or both.

I want the top menu setup vertically in the section box
