Sorting categories

A few months ago there was a discussion of adding category sort capabilities. Has there been any developments on this, or is there a work-around to accomplish the same thing?

Never mind. I figured it out. The sorting in the administration panel works well for the left menu and works as well for the "More News", at least for categories. If subcategories are added however to the "More News" they do not appear in the expected positions. So I am deleting subcategories from my site.
