Hello again,

I apologies for this long messages however I think it might come in handy or as a good reference for vivvo team or other people deeply involved with vivvo software.
I am on my way of publishing a lot of articles into my new site and every time I do this I need to review my published articles more than once. Why is that?

When we start a new article we click into “Add new article” Link. On the Dashboard we see the following areas which need to be filled with the proper content either text or image or else.. So far everything is self explanatory.

Title:
Abstract:

Image caption:
WYSIWYG area for the article content.

Here is my question: Is there a way to control how many characters get displayed on the “Abstract” area no matter how many we put in there in the first place.

Here is an example:

If I want to place the following text in the ABSTRACT area: “I apologies for this long messages however I think it might come in handy or as a good reference for vivvo team or other people deeply involved with vivvo software. I am on my way of publishing a lot of articles into my new site and every time I do this I need to review my published articles more than once” TOTAL: 247 CHARACTERS (no spaces)

…than this is EXACTLY what I am going to get in the article intro in the front page.

BUT if there is an option of pre defining this it would be something like this:

ABSTRACT character limit: 150 characters (no spaces)
Than the new abstract content that will show on the front page of this article would look something like this: “I apologies for this long messages however I think it might come in handy or as a good reference for vivvo team or other people deeply involved with vivvo software. I am on my way of pub…”

Do you think this is doable or is it already somewhere in place???

The whole idea of having more detailed automatic control over the abstract area is to keep the clean look of our design for ever. The way it is right now the site and articles get skewed or expended depending on the number of characters we place unintentionally in this area. By automatically controlling it once and for ever we can be able to enjoy our work for years to come without having to worry about this editor and/or that editor and without spending the time telling them to be careful putting in the abstract area the right number of characters.

I've seen something on this somewhere in the forums. I can't remember where it was to change, but I think your answer is here. There is some code you change to do what you want... I'll go look and edit this post.

********* OK after searching (5 pages lol) here is what I found:
<vte:value select="{article.get_summary|x}" />

So the abstract is the summary... the x is the number of characters you want to show.

Hope that helps :)

so what is the file we ned to edit than..?

In most cases, you need to edit templates within templates/summary folder.
