The upgrade and the fresh install are great. The installer has improved over 4.03.
Some of the concepts I had made me have to work a lot harder than I needed to. That kind of sucked, but it was my fault not Vivvo's (when the smoke cleared).
Basically the best advice I can give people who want RC 1 and want to use the ONE template is to understand that ONE was written for 4.04 and as such if you did what I did (which was install RC 1 then use the template and assume that you were fine) you will have a lot of problems.
If you do want to use RC 1 with the ONE template know that you need to perform all the upgrade procedures in order to make it work (Which will take you about an hour). There are some things that didn't work for me because I don't have the pro+ versions, so I needed to come up with some work-arounds that looked just as good or gave me a good compromise.
In retrospect I think I would have waited to upgrade until I had the dev version (which I'm buying this week) but I just couldn't wait to see this thing in its full glory.
After working for about 30 hours to straighten my mess out and bandage my head (and my wall) I have come to the following opinion about RC 1.
IF YOU READ ALL OF THE DIRECTIONS AND FOLLOW THEM, you will come to the conclusion that I have.... which is... RC 1 is an outstanding upgrade. My sites are loading much faster, and my overall CPU/Memory utilization seems to be much better because of the new and improved caching.
Is it worth it to upgrade? I think if you run a Vivvo site you would be a fool not to. It's really that good.
