that all depends on your level of experience.. I use Putty myself, but its all command line ..

if you are just doing secure file transfers, then you can use a ftp client like Filezilla which allows you to choose the server type, one of which is SFTP - SSH File Transfer Protocol

I advice my customers to use WinSCP (it's a free version) it's based on PuTTY with a easy to use interface like Windows Explorer, Norton Commander and Total Commander.

I also use WinSCP for some transfers.
It's good and easy to use. :)
