Lightbox for article images

I have been trying to get lightbox to work for my images that are nested inside articles. I was able to make the TinyMCE editor to be on demand with a link so I'm just using text boxes, but when I implement lightbox 2, it destroys my css file and shows the background color site wide. I tried the implementation method from the image gallery but it destroys the article pages background.

any help on this would be most appreciated.
