Well first of all you need to add some articles ;)

Note: Header area (which includes rotating headlines, searh, navigation, pages...) is supposed to be 100% width.

To display some of them in rotation, you need to set their status to headline.

Than you need to select to show horizontal navigation.
You can do that from your Vivvo administration >> Preferences >> Categories >> Page elements tab >> Sections - Navigation >> Display horizontal navigation (DHTML menu)

Next, you need to choose which categories will be displayed on home page.
Go to your Vivvo administration >> Preferences >> Categories >> Page elements tab >> Article List - More news and select which categories you want to show.
Note: All categories option wont work well, it is recommended not to choose this option.

also is it possible to put the link in area where it says printable version and etc.?

Not sure what you want to accomplish here :confused:

Do you want printable version of home page?

If that is the case, you can place this line somewhere <a href="{CURRENT_URL}?print" target="_blank"><img src="{VIVVO_THEME}img/printer_icon.gif" alt="print" /> <vte:value select="{LNG_PRINT_VERSION}" /></a>

maybe in footer.tpl woud be the best place.

But I'm not sure how the home page, or any other page will look in print version, because print version is controlled via print.css stylesheet, and it's made only for article printing, so if you want to make your entire site print friendly, I suggest you customize that stylesheet.

thanks for all the help....everything worked out...except for one thing.

What i need is to allow people to download PDF version of every article. I want the link of this pdf document to be near where it says to have the printable version and etc. or in replacement of the printable version or something.

You can edit box/article_tools.tpl template and place your link there.

You can also attach PDF version of your article, and that way download link will appear on the bottom of article.

is it possible that when I attach the pdf as an attachment...it shows up in the box where it says printable article instead of towards the bottom.

is it possible that when I attach the pdf as an attachment...it shows up in the box where it says printable article instead of towards the bottom.

Take this block of code

<vte:if test="{article.get_document}">
<li><a href="{article.get_document_href}"><img src="{VIVVO_THEME}img/attachment.gif" alt="{LNG_DOWNLOAD_ATTACHMENT}" /> <vte:value select="{article.get_document}" /></a></li>
</vte:if>

and place it in your box/article_tools.tpl template right after

<li><a href="{CURRENT_URL|switch_format:'txt'}"><img src="{VIVVO_THEME}img/plain_text_icon.gif" alt="Plain text" /> <vte:value select="{LNG_PLAIN_TEXT}" /></a></li>

also one more thing...above the navigation bar it says sections...how do i change it to say something else?

You can edit your language file (located in lang folder) to change this.

okay thanks for the info on the ADobe attachment...just wondering how do I remove the attachment from the bottom of the article. I dont want it to appear twice once under plain text and then again towards the bottom. Removing from the bottom of the article would be great?

And is it possible that the file I upload has a different name displayed than the file name? I need it to say "PDF Format"

Remove this block of code from your default.tpl for article view:

<vte:if test="{article.get_document}">
<div class="content_attachment">
<img src="{VIVVO_THEME}img/attachment.gif" alt="{LNG_DOWNLOAD_ATTACHMENT}" />
<vte:value select="{LNG_DOWNLOAD_ATTACHMENT}" /> >>
<a href="{article.get_document_href}"><vte:value select="{article.get_document}" /></a>
</div>
</vte:if>

And is it possible that the file I upload has a different name displayed than the file name? I need it to say "PDF Format"

Just place PDF Format instad of <vte:value select="{article.get_document}" />

thanks so much....I just have 2 more questions.

One is that I have switched to the template 4008. Secondly, on the right I have a "box" or content box for login, Is there a way I can insert under content box underneath it and put my google ads code there?

Secondly,
I want to do the same for under the "links" on the left that is titled sections. But I want to have a "heading" also saying sponsors like it says "sections" over the links.

finally, How I have a ad right under the header or over the header?

thanks for all the help.

If you want to customize your template and theme, I strongly suggest that you read developer documentation first:
http://www.vivvo.net/doc/v4/developer_manual/

It will become much more easy for you to move boxes and customize your site when you read it, and from previous posts you got the idea on how to move things in Vivvo (making adobe attachment out of file attachment link for example).

Second, if you are unexperienced and unfamiliar with HTML and CSS, than I suggest you try our Vivvo marketplace forums (http://www.vivvo.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=16) and hire a professional to do the site by your specifications.

I figured it out....it was actually quiet easy...plus i used the banner manager to have it so I dont have to open up the files anymore to edit.
