I'm getting a lot of spam accounts registering as members of my site. They appear to be bots so I was wondering if there was any plans to introduce some of the anti-spam measures which are available for the article comments on the register form also?

I get anywhere from 5 to 15 spam accounts per day. A real pain for sure.

I also get spam on my forms (form builder plugin), hope that gets addressed as well.

IMHO solution should be simple - Vivvo Developers add regular captcha like in comments AND RE-CAPTCHA so Vivvo users can choose which captcha type they would use during registration :)

After creating a PHP file that makes the captcha image and adding some PHP code to 'register.tpl', I can get the captcha image to display on the registration page, but the submit button disappears so the form cannot be submitted.

Has anyone successfully added captcha to the registration page? If so, would you mind sharing a tutorial?

Will this be in 4.5?

Add it to the registration form and the form builder please.

I honestly think CAPTCHA and RECAPTCHA are a pain in the ass and more importantly they don't work 100% spammers have already busted both of them. What is needed is a simple and free question and answer challenge.

Can you tell me the name of an elephant? (Hint: The answer is the last word in the question): ANSWER: Elephant.

Something you can configure yourself. Bots can't answer questions. It's that simple. Have a question and answer challenge and save all the hassle.

Agreed, this would be MY personal preference.

I don't care how it is done as long as something is done.

The present captcha for comments works fine for me.

I am tired of deleting a bunch of fake registrations every day -- the pending thing in 4.5 helps but still.

Any news boccio when you will add the captcha from comments to the signup -- it cannot be that hard can it?

Thank you for your time.
