View Full Version : My Mailing List Problem

Just noticed the announcement about the tech support problem during the transition to your new domain (still can't see why you changed it. I liked the old one LOL).
Just a quick note to let you know that I've forwarded an email to the sales@ address, as suggested, as I haven't heard back yet and I'm so desperate to get it working now that I'll ven offer you my two daughters in exchange. I'd throw in the wife, but you'd only send her back..... :D

Elton,
I'll ask our support guys to look for your email again. It's possible that some emails got lost in transition:) No need to send your wife and daughters yet!

Is the newsletter working for larger lists yet? I haven't heard back.... :(

Thanks, Mark.
I've tested it again and it still appears broken. I've sent regular communication via email.

Mark,
Do you know what's happening re: my mailing list problem? Last I heard, they were going to try a 3rd party programme.
Cheers,
Elton

Anyone? Please....
Hi Elton,
I think the guys are working on this issue. It's probably taking more than they expected, but we'll try to make it work for you. Thanks for your patience.

You're not kidding. I first reported it on here in May... :(

It's just that I get about one email a week now, if I hassle, and nothing else. I'm about to go away for another week, so that's more time lost. :(
All the best,
Elton

Can somebody from Vivvo let me know if this has been fixed, please?
I've come back and found a new mailing list installed, but don't want to try it until I've heard from you.
I'll be so happy if I can use it :)
All the best,
Elton

Somebody must have tweaked something, as the emails are now sending. Thank you :)
Just one thing now. At the end of the emails it adds the following:
"You are receiving this message because you have opted in to the Anglers Net - The UK's Online Fishing Magazine list. To unsubscribe, please follow this link: http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/sml/
"
However, there is no unsubscribe facility at that link :(
Best wishes,
Elton
Because we didn't want people to unsubscribe from your mailing list:) Joke aside, I will ask the tech team to look into this.
Thanks again.

I've submitted a ticket about this again today.
Not your fault - you guys got me a working mail list. It's just that I think you may have amended some templates and I've lost them due to these bloody hackers :(
Elton,
We are doing our best to help our clients deal with these security breaches. As you know, we almost immediately released a patch to take care of this issue, and we are currently very busy getting all the sites affected back in order. So, stay with us, we'll do our best to solve your problems :)

Thanks, Mark. I look forward to having a working mailing list soon :)
As an aside, people need to be aware of what some of these hackers did if and check their directories VERY carefully.
1. Phishing sites - I had a number of scam sites uploaded, namely attempts to grab AOL customers' credit card data. Look deep in every directory for anything suspicious. They used a file called aol.zip, but created many subdirectories to hide it.
2. r57 and c99 scripts - these were hidden in various places. I don't need to tell you guys what these can do.
3. Google Adsense code - some of mine was amended in order to steer payment to their accounts.
4. mySQL database dumps. Not much you can do if this has happened, but change all admin passwords at least.
5. IRC scripts - found a couple of these running. Again, look deep.
My ISP and I have spent all week looking for these. I still worry that we may have missed some. As I have my own dedicated server, every site on it was mine and every site got turned over.
Worst of all, I'm getting billed by my ISP for their time :(
I'll post this as a separate post, so that others can see it and check.
Cheers,
Elton
