View Full Version : Can I sell my license?
I don't have the money to renew for upgrades since it has expired. My license never expires, but I guess upgrades do? I must have missed that when I purchased almost a year ago.
Just though I could sell the license to someone that can or wants an upgrade license
Your license never expires, but the access to upgrades/new versions and tech. support does. If you are currently short on cash, you could also upgrade at a later date.
well here is the issue, I would like to use the software but I did not have a chance to download before my license expired. lol
So my question still stands, can I sell my license so that someone can use it and pay to renew it. Maybe save them some cash.
Thanks

Yes, you can transfer the license to third party, however he/she still won't be able to actually download the software w/o upgrade package renewal.

This is a matter which is currently annoying me very much.
I sent a ticket to Vivvo 11 days before my upgrade expiry enquiring about the Vivvo upgrades, it was my last response to this ticket which turned out to be 9 hours after my 6 month upgrade period asking where to download the new files, my last response was never replied to.
I have taken this matter up with Vivvo with a new ticket and now they are telling me I should pay $85 dollars for the upgrades.
What annoys me is from what users have said here on this forum, V3 was never finished properly, and was no good for web crawlers, from what I have read here on this fofum, google and the likes can not read the content of Vivvo V3.
I think this upgrade time limit is a joke, if an upgrade was released in those 6 months there should be no time limit as to when we decide to use it, this is a grave error on the side of vivvo management, you have this all back to front, we should be allowed to access any updates which were released during our 6 month upgrade period any time after, if upgrades are released after our 6 months grace then I understand those should be out of reach, but dont close off the upgrades we were able to use, I think this is very bad marketing.
I implore you Vivvo to rethink this matter, I think its very sad you are pushing your clients into a corner, when the simple truth is V3 is no good for a news management website if the search engines can not read the content.
I do hope my current Vivvo ticket UZA-25789-694 is reconsidered by Vivvo management, if not I will reside to creating a poll here on the Vivvo Forum and we will see what the response is from Vivvo users, I doubt a very good one.
The thing which annoys me the most is i waited months for any upgrades, and the truth is the Vivvo V4 upgrade arrived just before my upgrade expiry, so that is also a bit of a joke really, to give an upgrade time limit and the only upgrade that vivvo released was released 5 and a half months into my upgrade time limit, very poor :(
Kind regards
When the upgrade is released, you download and store it LOCALLY. That's all. You can install it whenever you wish. Vivvo can't dictate when you should upgrade with files you already have downloaded.
That said, it makes sense to make downloadable for a longer period the last version one was paid up for. It just means Vivvo guys have to design the client area to do that, but because it is more work for them, albeit for just a few, they're probably going to avoid it...

I personally think Vivvo 3.x was very SEO friendly for web crawlers. But hey, don't take my word for it. Guess who wrote this?

I just wanted to say thanks to Micha, Boccio, the forum members and of course the Vivvo staff, for putting up with all my questions.
I have done quite a lot of tweaking and my vivvo is looking amazing, and working beautifully.
I was worried about spending $400 at first, but the support has been second to none.
I guess Vivvo 3.5 was just fine when you wrote this - now all of the sudden it's buggy and never finished properly :)

The system we're using for client, licensing and order management is very robust. It is technically impossible to distinguish between assets you purchased (or just being eligible to download) prior to upgrade period expiry and after it. We very clearly state throughout the website and terms that your license is lifetime, but unless you have valid upgrade package you won't be able to your access client area download section. This way we strongly encourage clients to keep their files locally unless they plan on renewing their licenses.
Besides, just like Sola said - it is a common practice to download your files locally. At least, 99% of users does so. I just purchased BitDefender 2008, and I'm not pushing my luck with not keeping installation files on my computer...
Of course, as many times said before - we're all humans, and I see no reason not to send you your files via email or some other method. Don't worry - nobody will force you to purchase license renewal. It's entirely up to you, you will get your files either way.

Hi Boccio,
Thanks for your comments, you seem to be able to chill people out a lot more than support does some times.
My upset was that support was trying to get me to pay for the updates when i was allowed them in the first place, but was too busy to download them.
I have been developing a music website with vivvo V.3 and i have encountered a lot of problems getting it to the requirements I want, 4 months down the road its still not launched, however it will be launched for Feb 01 :)
Having put so much time into my first vivvo website I have not even considered upgrading or trying out V4, not only because it was lacking a lot of the plugins when first launched, but also because I can not go through another 4 months of tweaking and fixing small bugs right now, I am too busy with other websites and projects I have on.
I would like to get hold of the recent version as I have paid for two licenses, so if Vivvo are willing to send me the newer version I will keep it stored locally and hope to get round to using it soon, the shame about the whole thing is they offered to email me V4.1 and I fear it is a previous buggy version, and I will still have to pay for the latest updates :( that is a shame when all I would like is a Vivvo that works out the box with all the plugins from V3.
I hope these comments arent seen negatively, I think Vivvo needs to take users thoughts into account, Vivvo is the most expensive web aplication I have ever bought, I normally reside with open source apps, and this is where I keep wondering if I have made the right choice.
Vbulletin works 100% out of the box, and the support is top notch, that is why I was happy to invest after using 3 different forums in the past, and it is because of this trust with Vbulletins high calibre which pushed me to make a jump and invest $400 with Vivvo.
The support has been very good, but I can point to at least 10-15 tickets with problems which should have been working from the start, that is really what I was paying the money for, Vivvo has competition from an un-named open source app with literally hundreds of plugins, with competition like that I feel Vivvo should make an effort to update its licensed payed users a little more, and not be charging for a patch or update.
Thanks for all your time Boccio, you are a great asset to Vivvo.

See and that is something I can't understand. Why do I have to pay for updates on version 4?

I need a new licence if anyone has one spare and wants some money. Would I have to pay the update tho as I have 2 valid ones at the moment?

I am currently trying to sell my license but you will have to pay for an renew on it to download the software. :(
What exactly do you mean?
Why does my subscription to 4.0 end? Should it not last until you got to version 5?

You do not have a subscription to version 4. That's the main difference.
You own a license, meaning that you can use it for unlimited amount of time, and even transfer to 3rd party if you want. You do not lease it, as many software vendors operate, which implies having annual subscription or subscription from one major version to another.
On the other hand, you pay annually only for support and access to upgrades. Not for renewing your license. I hope this makes it more clear now :)
ok so I have someone interested in the license. How would it be transfered over to that other party?

That is the simple part. Just give him/her your client area access and license number, hence write an email to billing@vivvo.net notifying change of owner for specific license number (make sure to provide both old and new customer info as well as original order number).

I have access to the downloads, hence the question as to would I have to pay the Support package, which it would appear to have been missed.
Send me a PM with the figure you are asking?

There has got to be a better way to do this as I do not want someone access to my information in my client area. Is there a better way to do this?
bump, come on guys. Need an answer here, please.
Thanks

May I know what makes you want to sell your license?
I am planning to get the Developer license. Now, evaluating the software now and following the development.
I don't have the money to purchase the upgrade option. I have someone wanting to do it already, just waiting to hear from someone in this thread
There is no other way to transfer the ownership of the license other that the one that boccio outlined. It's very easy and straightforward and can be done in a few minutes.
license is sold, can someone lock this thread please.
