Problem changing templates

When I save the template I get "template changed successful" but all the template does is go back to its original template? Nothing changes, what is the problem?

You have to make sure all templates are "writeable". They need to have apropriate CHMOD permissions (+w) in order to amend them from administration area instead directly from FTP client.
