View Full Version : Questions - vBulletin site looking to migrate content

I have a pretty active site and I'm considering migrating my non-forum pages to a better content management system. I have some questions.

1. Can you setup RSS feeds to automatically create new articles that are held in an unpublished state until someone manually takes action?

2. Is there any way to copy forum threads into Vivo as new articles? My content is all now currently in vBulletin threads.

3. Is there any way to create custom fields that can be used to create custom pages. For example, if I wanted to publish spec pages for monitors, I might want to write a short review of the monitor, and then enter 15 or 20 specs that would be layed out the same on every page.

4. Do you develop custom templates... if so, roughly how long does it take and how much does it cost. I have custom templates on my forums that I'd like to have something developed to be similar too... it doesn't have to match perfectly, but I'd like to use the header and footer and some of the styling elements, because my forum will continue to be in vBulletin.

5. Is there any way to add a "search" option for Vivo on the vBulleting search dropdown menu? I would want it to say something like "Search News" or "Search Articles".

6. Do you have social bookmarking and search engine friendly urls available. If not, do you know if Vivo will work with vBSEO to fix the urls?

7. How large is your install base? I'd like to know roughly how many customers are using Vivo. The reason I'm asking this is that my current solution was commercial, and it was just abandoned by the developer. TheVBGeek's GARS system. A lot of unhappy abandoned customers looking for a solution.

Thanks.

Hey there, good to have you with us.

1. Can you setup RSS feeds to automatically create new articles that are held in an unpublished state until someone manually takes action?

Definitely yes. This is not a default option, but can be tweaked in seconds.

2. Is there any way to copy forum threads into Vivo as new articles? My content is all now currently in vBulletin threads.
Frankly, I have no idea. Never tried anything similar. If you can somehow find ID's of those threads, could be possible... Or if all those threads are within same forum, I don't know...

Sure, this is one of the main reasons for using custom fields in Vivvo. We have a how-to (http://www.vivvo.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1580) addressing this.

I must admit I don't know. You will probably have to ask this question on vBulletin forum, they might have more experience in binding 3rd party search with vB. Although, this is a very interesting question...

6. Do you have social bookmarking and search engine friendly urls available. If not, do you know if Vivo will work with vBSEO to fix the urls?
Yes we do, you can check this on our demo.

We are on the market for over two years now... As for install base, you can simply run "powered by vivvo" on google, will give you the rough figure.

Did you find a solution that works like this? I also currently use a VB forum driven CMS (VBAdvnaced.com), and use VB threads to create articles for my home page...

Does this work? or does any have an example of this feature? or how they have attempted this?

Thanks in advance -
