This was not working in 3.5 and it don't seem to be working on 4.0 :(

Preferences->Email-> Use PHP mail() function or SMTP

in your admin panel?

Email to friend... How do i get it to display the full link?

I'm not sure what do you mean when you said `full link`. Could you explain me a little more about this?
