I know that everyone on this board knows what Vivvo can do right now, so I’m going to be short and give you an introduction to main, core improvements that 4.0 version is about to bring:
1.Social bookmarking (Tags)
·As already seen on shots, Tags are going to be a standard part of new Vivvo. Tagcloud, navigation and ability for registered users to tag articles…
2.Page Caching
·Blocks of outputs are now being cached for servers with high load to achieve optimum speed and performance. Now it is possible to run up to 500,000 articles!
3.Full media and streaming integration
·This time, media streaming is tightly integrated into Article system (no additional plug-in needed) and supports even more formats ('swf', 'dcr', 'mov', 'qt', 'mpg', 'mp3', 'mp4', 'mpeg', 'avi', 'wmv', 'wm', 'asf', 'asx', 'wmx', 'wvx', 'rm', 'ra', 'ram'). Also, you’ll be able to easily embed into article body a link from YouTube or Google Video.
4.Custom skins and templates for individual sections
·Vivvo Template Engine (VTE), a proprietary template system we developed makes possible to choose individual article templates, set different templates/skins for different sections of your website and do much more. Our pre-made layout gallery will consist od 3-6 templates for basic laytout (2-col, 3-col, etc.) you’ll be able to choose from when constructing basic pages.
5.Multi-lingual Administration
·Site Administration will be available in different languages.
6.Two levels of registered members (free/basic, paid/premium)
·This option will allow you easily distinguish different levels of membership for accessing your website
7.Article Generator plug-in
·A plug-in that will let you create custom article output lists and generate any desired article boxes for your website. In other words - no need to comply to standard boxes anymore :)
Very wonderful .. always .Good luck !
We are awaiting the new version

This is great news! Everything sounds good but particularly the membership levels. Is this going to be stand-alone and if so how will that affect installations that are also hooked up to vBulletin with membership levels?
Also, will there be payment integration with processors such as Authorize.net or will a user have to be set as a "premium/paid" member manually?
thanks!!

5.Multi-lingual Administration
·Site Administration will be available in different languages.
Could you elaborate on what you mean by this?
Will Vivvo provide the language packs necessary to do this?
Or, will you be providing one easy-to-access and translate file for the whole site and require users to create their own translations?
Will registered members be able to choose which language they want to view the site in?
Will all the language terms be in an easy-to-locate/translate location to facilitate this?
boccio
08-22-2007, 07:08 AM
Yep, the users will be able to choose desired language, both front-end and admin.
We shall provide language packs for as many languages as we can, at this point most probably: English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, Swedish, Arabic, and our beloved Serbian :)
In time we will most certainly have more, but this are the languages we will start with.
Is this going to be stand-alone and if so how will that affect installations that are also hooked up to vBulletin with membership levels?
No, this feature will not be bind to vBulletin membership levels,
Also, will there be payment integration with processors such as Authorize.net or will a user have to be set as a "premium/paid" member manually?
Payment integration plug-ins (2CO, PayPal, Authorize.net, StormPay...) is scheduled for late October/early November. Until then, you will have to use 3rd party processing module if you wish to charge membership on your site.

this time I dont want to deal with the features but I want to see the 4.0 as soon as possible :) I hope it will be more powerful

the search feature in 3.5 is nonsense,it could only search the exact word.
Example:i want search "love",in vivvo 3.40 i can search "love" by writing "lov",
3.5 has merely one good feature that is comment modification.
Is vivvo4.0 search engine fully optimised ?it should be shown search query highlited.
I hope you include this feature otherwise Vii=vvo will non be powerful CMS unless you include this feature.

Very good improvements.
Did you also change the source code order in vivvo 4.0 templates ?
Spiders should read:
1. header
2. content area (article)
3. left column
4. right column
5. footer
Or is it same order as in vivvo 3.5 templates ?

The order in templates is the same as in 3.51, but we will probably release a SEO-improved set of templates with content/left/right schema, with some how-to on making it possible yourself with current set of templates.

Since we took the plunge yesterday and made the purchase, will there be a clear upgrade path to 4.0 from 3.5? We'd be interested in the beta as well.

I think Vivvo4 should have some features :
+ Ajax in non-content page such as : search page, email this to friend, comment page...
+ Sitemap.xml should be fixed with large number of articles
+ Built related article (in Admin CP) should be fixed with large number of articles
+ Prevent duplicated SEF link : when you add a new SEF link for an article, it's should check for existing SEF link and give an arlet.

1. Ajax is already used in number of features to quicken response time of Vivvo application to user interaction. I don't think we'll extend this significantly, except allow registered staff (admin, editor, etc.) to "edit in place" articles, comments and tags.
2. Isn't it? Not sure I understand...
3. Again, not sure I understand? What do you mean by fixed, and large number? If you relate 50 stories it doesn't mean much sense...
4. Totally agree on this, we'll make sure to check this.

Vivvo administration had ajax, but I think ajax in comment page is needed (joomla has many ajax comment plugins)
+ Sitemap.xml should be fixed with large number of articles :
if vivvo has a large number of articles (ex: 10 000 article), when you (and google.com ) go to : http://yoursite.com/sitemap.xml (or http://www.yoursite.com/index.php?site_map) , vivvo exports all of them, so it will take lot of resources and time, may lead to "request time out" :(
+ Built related article (in Admin CP) should be fixed with large number of articles : again, if vivvo has a large number of articles (ex: 10 000 article), when admin click on the "Index related articles" (in the "Article management"), it indexes all article and take lot of time and resources of the server :(
Hope this is clear enough, sorry if it's confused.

Hi!
It would be cool have:
a) Option to upload and "crop" images directly in the admin panel. If the writer dont have photoshop experience, is hard.
b) Share adsense with the "writers", so they give us his ID in Google adsense and we can setup a % of ads to be shown with his ID.
c) An "automatic" option for SEF url, for example taking the url from the title. Not all writers are good with that... so.. is better an "automatic" option (keeping the actual like you want)
Thanks and sorry my poor english

Download a program called SnagIt. It makes image manipulation VERY easy.

What about comments in articles?
We need an option to "view all comments"....
In sites with a big community this is a problem, for example in this article we have more than 300 comments!!

Hi,
I have maybe missed something that was allready said, but I have no time to read everything, so please someone answer my question here.
Regarding this statement in the list of features:
"Two levels of registered members (free/basic, paid/premium)
·This option will allow you easily distinguish different levels of membership for accessing your website"
I wander if this feature will be a plugin, or what? How will this be implemented and when can we expect this feature to be available ?
Almin
It’s not a plugin by itself, it’s a feature implemented as a basis or foundation that can be improved with actual payment gateway plug-in or bis available for usage already, but unfortunately we do not have actual payment processing plugin yet. If someone wants to use actual paid membership, he/she will have to use some 3rd party payment processor, until we develop plug-in for this purpose, which will going to happen in Q1 2008.

Is there a documentation on how to implement a recommended 3rd party payment processor for vivvo?
What's the latest on the template plugin? When is this going to be release?
I'm going to revert to the old vivvo if the template plugin isn't coming this year.

Apart from standard developer documentation - no, there is nothing specific for payment processing.

I was told there would be a template plugin to implement your 3.5 templates to 4.0.
What about an average 'number of calls to MySQL per page-request'? Has it been improved? What is the average now? (used to be a lot)

Yes, it will be available in approx. 10-14 days.

What's the latest on the template plugin? Post was from November and quoted 10-14 days, it's 2008 now. I been holding off one of my top websites for this plugin, it was running very good until I upgraded and lost my template.

Hi
at 4.0.3 did Vivvo fixe the following bugs?
1. Time zone (edit article)
2. all mail functions (send to friend, mail templates, newsletter e.tc.) for non-Latin charsets.
3. html to TEXT for non-latin charsets
4. Poll problems when chasing
5. Poll several time vote after login and log out
and suggestions as:
1. Do not validate the ADMIN through vivvo server path, but with some other way.
Can you keep me update for the aboves ?
