Textpattern importer is a tool for importing content from your Textpattern blog to Vivvo CMS. It can import:
Categories - Textpattern importer creates categories if they do not exist in Vivvo system. If a category exists, plug-in will synchronize existing and imported data - it will add articles to existing categories. If an article from Textpattern is added to more than one category, importer will assign only one category to this article.
Articles/Pages and Comments - Articles can be imported as Vivvo articles or Vivvo pages.
Users - Users can be created manually before importing or importer creates them automatically. In that case confirmation emails are being sent.
All articles/pages and comments will be imported no matter if they already exist in Vivvo.
We do not suggest you using this importer if you have your Vivvo site integrated with SMF or vBulletin forum.
You need to access to the Plug-ins section. Click on the Plug-ins link which is located in the Main menu at the top of your administration panel.
You should have all the installed plug-ins listed on your left-hand side.
A list of all plug-ins currently registered to the system is displayed on the right hand side of the screen.
To install Textpattern importer you need to click on the install icon on the right side of the plug-in name.
This will take you to the page with the installation link: Click here to Install the plug-in
After you run the installation, you will be informed that the plug-in was successfully installed.
You may easily go back to the Plug-ins page, by following the link: Click here to go to Plug-in
To uninstall Textpattern Importer you need to click on the uninstall icon on the right side of the plug-in name.
This will take you to the page with the link for uninstall: Click here to Uninstall the plug-in
You will be informed that the plug-in was successfully uninstalled and you may return to the Plug-ins page by clicking the link: Click here to return to Plug-in home page
The path to the Textpattern Importer plug-in:
Click on Plug-ins link (which is located in Main menu at the top of your administrator panel)
Choose Textpattern Importer plug-in from the list of all installed plug-in (on the left side of the screen)
This plug-in can be accessed only by users with administrator-level privileges.
We suggest you to add users manually before you start with importing.
Select: If you select option 'Manual', every article will be assigned to its author if author (user) already exists in Vivvo system, else it will be assigned to the user you enter in the 'Choose user' field. With the option 'Auto' selected, importer will automatically create users in Vivvo and will send them confirmation e-mails.
Choose privileges: Select an appropriate Vivvo usergroup from the drop-down menu for every Textpattern usergroup.
Choose option 'as pages' if you want orphaned articles to be added to Vivvo as Vivvo pages. Option 'as article' will allow you to choose category where all uncategorized articles will be added.
First, you need to have a backup file of your Textpattern data. It should be uploaded to your VIVVO_ROOT/files/txp_importer folder (you need to create that folder prior to importing backup file).
Make sure that backup file is converted to UTF-8 encoding. Backup file has to be created with DB Backup extension in Textpattern as SQL file.
To import previously created and uploaded backup, click on the Import icon.
After importing, we highly recommend you to UNINSTALL and DELETE the Textpattern importer due to security reasons.
